Features
Save Your Fingers!
SoothSayer was designed to help those who can type using a standard keyboard but their typing is too slow or they want to improve their typing speed or accuracy. People with Repetitive Trauma Syndrome or people who, for whatever reason, want to minimize their typing actions, can benefit by using SoothSayer. In addition, SoothSayer can help with reading and writing.
AutoEdit™
SoothSayer has features not commonly found in other word prediction programs. For example, there is a built-in "AutoEdit Dictionary" which you can add to. The AutoEdit Dictionary immediately corrects many typically misspelled words. Of course Microsoft®Word does this too, but SoothSayer works with every application you can type into.
AutoShow
Another unique feature is AutoShow. With AutoShow; you tell SoothSayer how many keystrokes and how much time it should wait before presenting the word choices to you. This is a great feature that keeps SoothSayer out of sight until you need it.
AutoComplete
AutoComplete uses Smart Key Technology to determine when there is only one possible letter after the letter(s) you've typed. AutoComplete then will type that letter (or letters) for you! You can set SoothSayer to give you an auditory prompt when this happens too.
Abbreviation Expansion
Okay, we know that many word prediction programs have abbreviation expansion, so we won't go into that much detail about it. But it is so easy to add an abbreviation in SoothSayer. All you have to do is go to SoothSayer's Dictionary Manager, edit your user dictionary and type an abbreviation like (ss=SoothSayer Word Prediction is very cool). The interesting thing is that with AutoComplete turned on, as soon as you type 'ss,' the words to the right of the equal sign (SoothSayer Word Prediction is very cool) automatically replace the 'ss' abbreviation.
By attaching sounds or having the expansion read back to you once you select it, you can construct a simple augmentative communication system.
Sentence Completion
Abbreviation expansion is great, the only problem is remembering what abbreviations you used for the sentences! That is why we introduced the "Sentence Completion" feature. Just add whole sentences or phrases into your user dictionary, and when you start typing them, the sentence will appear in the SoothSayer word list. Just point at it to hear what it says, or click on it and the whole sentence or phrase gets typed for you. This is great in many job settings where you are entering the same information several times a day.
